Integrated Water Resources Management (Country Focused Training Course)
Japan Water Agency started “Integrated Water Resources Management (Country Focused Training Course)” from this year. This training course targets for those who are working for Water Resources Management Company and its Regional Water Management Companies under the Ministry Energy in Iran. This year, nine trainees attended the training course. The entire training period was 26 days from from November 14 to December 9.
The Ministry Energy in Iran has the authority for water supply, water resources development, water resources management and sewage works. Water Resources Management Company and its Regional Water Management Companies are in charge of water resources management including river management and underground water management. Because the average annual rainfall is less than 500 mm, Iran isn’t abundant with water and establishment and practice of Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) is indispensable.
In the course, the lectures on utilization and conservation of underground water, rainwater storage and infiltration, reuse of sewerage and run-off analysis were added to the program to fulfil the requests from trainees. They learned about IWRM practices in Yoshino River Basin in Shikoku as the example of it in Japan. They visited Kagawa Canal, Ikeda Dam, Singu Dam, Tomisato Dam and Sameura Dam. They also visited Sitama Prefecture’s ground subsidence monitoring facilities and Tokyo Prefecture’s sewage treatment plant etc.
This training course will last for another two years, we’ll try to our best to do the better training.
