Water Quality Accident Response Drill to be held on Gunma Canal

November 10, 2016

Gunma Canal, located along the northwestern edge of the Kanto Plain in Gunma Prefecture, is one of the very important facilities to provide one million residents in those districts with domestic water and 300 ha of farmland in eight municipalities of central Gunma Prefecture with irrigation water. As there was an accident of illegal oil dumping into Akagi Main Canal in 2008, it became more important to be prepared for a water quality accident. To make an advanced preparation against such a water quality accident, Gunma Canal Operation and Maintenance Office is going to hold the water quality accident response drill to focus on the oil leakage accident, inviting related water users and municipal office staff members so as to conduct proper and prompt responses in coordination with each other.
