Drought Control Measures Have Got Started Again This Year!

June 29, 2017

Rainfall in the past few month of this year is relatively low in Japan. As we, Japan Water Agency, are concerned about the possible low level of water storage at the reservoirs again this year, we have established the drought control measures teams at various operation and maintenance offices as well as our headquarters just as we did last year.

As the prime importance of our functions is to supply water stably to all the water users for domestic, irrigational, and industrial uses, we have started employing much further intensified discharge operations by grasping the river environment and collecting precipitation and water storage data promptly as well as obtaining forecasting information from meteorological agency. We are working for much closer coordinations with various organizations concerned.

We are planning to release information on water storage situations together with other related information, uploading them on our website to keep you posted. (Available only in Japanese.)

Thank you.
