The purpose of this agreement is to mutually and comprehensively cooperate between NIED and JWA in all the related fields both of them are involved, to disseminate the results of their research and development to society, thus to contribute to the realization of stable life of people and building of disaster-resilient society, making full and effective use of human and material resources of both organizations.

Prior to the signing of the agreement, Mr. Komura, President of JWA mentioned to the effect that with this agreement, we would expect that we could make full and effective use of information and technologies in the disaster prevention field the NIED has accumulated so far, especially in the software side such as the system enabling the disaster information sharing. In this way, we can expect quicker and more appropriate response to the point when conducting the support for disaster-hit areas based on the request from municipal governments. Mr. Haruo Hayashi, President of NIED also mentioned to the effect that with this agreement they would expect not only the synergetic effect in terms of assistance activities during the disaster period but also penetration and utilization of field research results derived from the JWA facilities.
