Dam Card of Irukaike Reservoir is available now as well as its Dam Curry & Rice.
15 March, 2018
Irukaike Reservoir is now world-famous because in 2015 it was officially registered as one of the World Heritage Irrigation Structures. Inuyama City, where the reservoir is located and Iruka Canal Land Improvement District office has jointly made the dam card and the Iruka Canal Land Improvement District office in Shinodaira area has started providing the visitors to the office with the dam cards on a one by one visitor basis. Dam cards are usually made and provided to the visitors only by the management organizations of the dams such as Japan Water Agency (=JWA), Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (=MLIT), or local management municipalities only under the unified format designated by MLIT.
As Irukaike Reservoir is quite a large irrigational pond constructed in Edo Period and meets the required criteria of the dam, i.e. a reservoir with the embankment of 15m or higher, as it has 25.7m embankment, the MLIT approved its dam card making.
In addition, at the Japanese Restaurant "
Hekisui-Tei" in near-by
Museum MEIJI-MURA designed
Irukaike Dam Curry and Rice and started serving it
from 3 March until 24 June, 2018. (Limited to 20 servings per day at 1,300 yen/each.) As Irukaike Reservoir is famous for pond
smelt fishing, "
Irukaike Dam Curry and Rice" features mounted rice symbolizing the embankment and curry roux for the reservoir water, topped with some fried pond smelt fishes.
Visiting the reservoir and the MUSEUM MEIJI-MURA and have its curry and rice will be perfect way for spring holiday leisure. Don’t you think so?
