JWA welcomed the visit of dam engineers from India from 27 through 30 August, 2018.13 December, 2018

From 27 August through 30 August, 2018, the delegates from the World Bank-financed dam rehabilitation project led by Mr. T.K.Sivarajan, Chief Engineer of Central Water Commission, India visited the headquarters of Japan Water Agency (JWA), Takizawa Dam, and Urayama Dam, both of which were managed by JWA. The purpose of their visit to us this time was to deepen their understanding of dam safety management immediately after the occurrence of an earthquake.
During the meeting, the delegates shared information with us on the severe situations of Kerala State in southern India where damaged by the torrential monsoon rains since May this year. We had the exchange of opinions and made the explanations of dam management situations on both Takizawa and Urayama dams on site. They gave us their frank thoughts and expressed their recognition of the importance of integrated dam management and operations in consideration of the situations in the downstream of the dam.
JWA is working on the entrusted project on improvement of dam management capabilities from the World Bank since 2015. In 2017, we made the inspection manual for the dam safety management of Maithon Dam, northern India and conducted the on-site training. The fact that we have contributed to the improvement of water issues in various parts of the world has also contributed for the bread and butter of our business.
