On 28 October, "Operation-Let's Have Fish Come Home 2018" was held at Shinhama Biotope by Lake Biwa in Kusatsu City, Shiga Prefecture.
In this event, children caught Funa (Crucian Carp) and Carp born in the biotope and released them into Lake Biwa, expecting they will come back after they grow up. The biotope was created for a spawning ground for native fishes such as carps and crucian carps. Those laid eggs turns to a young fishes later, then they are released to Lake Biwa. This event aims that children learn the environment of Lake Biwa and the importance of its conservation, including native water creatures in the lake through such activities.
