Method of Navigation

(Example: when a small vessel drawing 1.3 m or less uses the lock to move from downstream to upstream)

Prevention of saltwater intrusion caused by ship traffic

When ships pass through the lock, saltwater intrudes from downstream. To prevent this, desalination pumps are provided. While water is being let in to adjust the water level within the lock, the pumps are operated to reduce the salt concentration in the lock and prevent saltwater from intruding upstream.
