"Project Implement Plan regarding the earthquake resistance measures for Fukuoka Canal facilities" was granted on 19 November, 2018 by the Health, Labour and Welfare Minister (the competent minister), and on 20 November, 2018,
Fukuoka Canal Management and Construction Office started the operation accordingly.
This project is aiming at recovering the original functions of Fukuoka Canal facilities, which has been working as the important lifeline to supply about one-third of Fukuoka metropolitan area and entire Kiyama Town of Saga Prefecture with domestic water over 30 years since they started water supply in 1983 and in parallel, at securing earthquake resistance capabilities against possible large scale quakes in future.
